> WolOS is the Just Use operating system: updates you can undo, an installer that refuses to risk Windows, and no system change without asking you first.

WolOS is the Just Use operating system: the PC disappears and what you came to do is all that is left. Just use it. It is open source (GPL-2.0-or-later) and made for the PC you already own.

**Not stable yet.** WolOS is in active development and the current ISO is a test build, not yet proven on real hardware. Try it in a virtual machine, or from the USB stick with Try WolOS, which changes nothing on the disk.

- Updates build a second copy of the system; three failed starts fall back to the old one. Files live outside both copies.
- The installer refuses a Windows that is hibernated or was shut down with Fast Startup, so its files cannot be damaged.
- Every change made as root shows an approval sheet on screen. AI helpers are named on it and act only through the `wol` commands.
- Three doors: [developers](https://wolos.org/developers) (Cryswol, modules, `wol`), [gamers](https://wolos.org/gamers) (Steam ready, banners held in full screen, `wol games doctor`), [creatives](https://wolos.org/creators) (nine apps in one tick, media formats one click, off until chosen).
- Apps from the WolOS repositories, Flathub, AppImages, recipes and community packages through one tool, wopkg.
